Well, it finally happened, I’ve officially signed with a literary agent! And honestly, I’m still pinching myself to make sure this isn’t some sort of elaborate dream.
The book isn’t written yet (nonfiction proposals first, manuscripts later—publishing is weird like that), but the idea, the structure, and all the painstakingly crafted words in my proposal were enough to convince someone that this project has serious potential. That means we’re officially in the “let’s convince a publisher to take a chance on this” stage—a thrilling, nerve-wracking step that feels equal parts exciting and overwhelming.
What’s the book about? Without spoiling too much, it’s very on-brand for me: a deep dive into history and culture, a sharp look at how the past refuses to stay in the past, and just enough bitchy sarcasm to keep things lively (let’s see how much bitchiness the publishers let me keep…). It’s the kind of book I’ve always wanted to write, and knowing that someone else believes in it too? Honestly, I’m still wrapping my head around it.
Right now, I’m gearing up to pitch this proposal to publishers and—fingers crossed—land a book deal. Then comes the daunting task of turning my weeks and months of research into an actual manuscript. (Someone remind me I said this was exciting when I’m neck-deep in chapter rewrites. This is going to be my MA thesis all over again…) It’s going to be a journey, but for now, I’m taking a moment to soak it all in.
So, What’s Next?
I’ll be sharing updates as things progress, from the thrills of pitching to publishers to the inevitable moments of “what was I thinking?” If you’ve ever wondered what goes into turning an idea into a book, stay tuned—it’s going to be a wild ride.
To everyone who’s cheered me on, read my work, or tolerated my soapbox rants about history, thank you. I couldn’t have made it to this point without your support, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you.
Congratulations 🎉🎈🍾
