Day 2 - NaNoWriMo 2023
During my writing today I:
Read a brief history of the citrus industry in Orange County, CA.
Read far too much about the history of the KKK in Orange County.
Deeply confused a bartender by muttering, “I just wish they had a map of WHERE the orange groves were in California in 1924” while she was cleaning the bar next to me.
Favorite line written today:
Avery looked Maggie up and down, seemingly only just noticing the outfit she was wearing. “Hot date tonight?”
“Oh wouldn’t you like to know” Maggie teased, putting on her hat and nearly skipping down the hallway to the stairs.
“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do” Avery said.
“Oh please, you don’t do anything ever, except moan about life and eat dinner at Helen’s. I’m going to be doing a hell of a lot of things tonight that you wouldn’t do.” Maggie grinned and disappeared down the stairs. Avery frowned.
“That’s not all I do…” she muttered, locking the door to the office and pocketing the key.
Dinner at Helen’s did sound good though.
Included: A map of Los Angeles and the surrounding area in 1926, with the approximate location of Disneyland marked…for reasons.
