I'm Doing a Thing. You Should Come:
Wham! Bam! Thank You! Slam! on June 20 at 5PM ET

A quick reminder that I’ll be speaking at the next Wham! Bam! Thank You! Slam! on June 20 at 5PM ET and the theme is delightfully subtle:
Kill the Patriarchy.
To be clear, there will be no actual violence. We are historians, writers, and professional users of footnotes. We will be using our words. Some of those words may be sharp.
I’ll be telling the story of the time a group calling themselves the Modern Confederacy decided that a history professor saying the Civil War was about slavery was simply a bridge too far. What followed involved harassment, threats, university administrators, and a lesson about what happens when women speak publicly with authority.
The event features an incredible lineup of storytellers, and I’d love to see some familiar faces in the audience.

Because if there’s one thing history teaches us, it’s that the people yelling “sit down and be quiet” are usually worth ignoring.
And if there’s a second thing history teaches us, it’s that the Confederacy remains remarkably committed to losing.

Darn it. I’m in the UK so the timing means it will be from 10.30pm to 12.00am which is way past my bedtime. Will there be a recording of it that I could access later, please? Thank you x
