Retro Review: Exploring History's Relevance in Today's Headlines

Finally, I’m rolling out some content made especially for my paid subscribers!

One of my biggest pet peeves in coverage of major news headlines is how often the relevant historical context is left out of the story. I get it, the history is sometimes too nuanced for the average news article and, for that matter, journalists aren’t historians in the first place. I can’t expect them to do what I do, because I definitely can’t do what they do.

However, I what I can do is retroactively step in and provide much needed historical context to important headlines.

Retro Review will be published twice a month, covering a variety of news stories from the previous weeks. I obviously can’t promise to cover EVERY news item; my focus will be on major American political news primarily (though I may weigh in on world news when I feel qualified to expand on it).

Retro Review articles will be behind a paywall, so you’ll have to become a paid subscriber to gain access to these. Paid subscriptions to Bitchy History are just $5 a month (or $50 for a year) and additional content for paid subscribers will be coming in the future.

There will also be a chat set up for paid subscribers who can suggest news stories to be covered by the Review.
