I love it! Very well analyzed, and I love your humor and writing style. :)
I'd just add one thing: I don't know in what corners of the manosphere you've been lurking around, but most of the sad anti-feminist rhetoric I've encountered is far less sophisticated than this. You describe what comes close to actual arguments. With structure. And logic. Bad logic, but still :))
I suspect that part of it is your own mind and ability to make sense of what mostly resembles a toddler's tantrum of thoughts messed up all over the place. A clown car with a badge, as you put it so well. :)
Every antifeminist really is “shadowboxing an argument [they] hallucinated instead of engaging with feminism.”
This! They always think it’s about devaluing men instead of ending a system built on subjugating and devaluing women. They think it’s about revenge instead of justice.
I’m so tired of telling these folks that we don’t have the energy to hate men. We need them to join us and help break the stupid system keeping us all boxed in.
Our entire culture is predicated upon understanding and empowering men, so no. We’re not going to sit around and center MEN in the fight for equality.
If “you tried and got burned,” then that’s on you as an individual for not understanding feminism and how to actually stand up for equality. Hint: nobody wants your sympathy, we want you to actually believe in and fight for equality.
I already have everything I want. You know what I don’t want? More men whining about how women don’t listen to men enough and that women are to blame for inequality because we’re still not nice enough to men.
„This is where the anti-feminist argument always starts doing interpretive jazz with a concussion“ – I laughed so hard at that 🤣 Thank you for this absolutely f***ing brilliant read! 👌👏👏👏
I read this yesterday, and, as you say about anti-feminists, she completely misses the point. She declares that women don’t care about men’s issues and problems, but we do. However, we are no longer taking responsibility for solving those problems.
I also saw a man post a note about “male privilege”, which again missed the point. We are not talking about financial issues here, we are talking about the fact that a man is more likely to get a job than a woman because he is not going to need maternity leave. His name (especially if it is a White male name, as opposed to a black woman’s) won’t stop him being shortlisted for a job, or getting a bank account and so on.
I know I am preaching to the converted, but I am trying to understand why these people think like this, when everything points to women being held back in almost every part of life. I might comment on her post to ask her about the Taliban 🤔
I laughed out loud at so many points while reading this. Then I was just nodding my head vigorously & shouting in agreement. Thank you. You're an absolute delight. So happy Substack lead me to your posts.
Me thinks some of these men & women read patriarchy & hear patriarch & they so want to be the daddy without responsibilities of course. Sigh 🙄
Just so, and lots of fun, as always. You slay. Why don't we want to look at systems? Well, then we'd have to admit that we should change them. There's no excuse. The dye is cast, though. It's unavoidable. It always bothers me how, in my own comments sections, people say, "Yes. But do we have to call it feminism?"
So often when someone is talking rudely about feminists they specify they mean like the “bra burning” kind of feminists. And it’s always brought up as like the worst thing.
If the worst thing your group does is damage their own property to make a point, that seems like a pretty unproblematic group.
Me and my man love this subject. Mine’s done the emotional work on these points and never really thought this way in the first place. We’re really happy and he tells me every day he’s the luckiest guy on earth. You’d think me and the many other examples of a healthy and happy relationship dynamic would start to teach incels that maybe they are actually the problem! I’ve never seen it work authentically in heterosexual relationships unless both parties are genuinely committed to an equal partnership. Living is hard! Why would a woman want to be with someone who makes it even harder? Do the work! Isn’t no pain no gain the guy mantra?

lol keep blaming women for your failures as an ally. Real mature. 👍

Aww Tuvix 🥺
🤣 I am glad the reference was understood. You’ll like my “the problem of feminism in Star Trek Voyager” piece that’s coming out on the 10th.
I certainly will 🤩
For some reason 'Delete the wife' came to mind

I love it, I wrote something similar recently if you want to read :)
When I woke up at 25 (40 years ago)
And started speaking my truth and experience in This country as a woman, I got shot down and called the “f” word. Feminist.
I was silenced until I really found my voice. The patriarchy has spread sooo many lies about women to this point.
Women grew beyond their patriarchal conditioning.
Men did not. In fact they’re doubling tripling down their hate(fear) of women demonizing us further right to our deaths.

Great piece as always, Professor Meredith x

This is exactly the kind of content I signed up for! This was a delight to read, thank you so much for sharing <3

Women have more rights than men? As someone who's been on both sides of that equation I call bullshit.
For such rational people they sure do make a lot of illogical conclusions based on vibes.
Great piece! Thanks for making me chuckle, I wasn't expecting that. #TeamTuvix 🖖
Its a mans world therefore everything must be about men.
